Steelers and James Harrison far apart

The Steelers and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year, James Harrison, have agreed on only the length of his proposed contract extension, but are reported to be far apart on the dollar amount.

Harrison has been seriously underpaid for a player that provides the level of performance he has. That said, the 30 year old LB may not find the contract he is seeking in Pittsburgh. The Steelers do not typically overpay for free agents, even their own. It's possible that Harrison just played the best season of his career and the Steelers might be wise to let Harrison play out the final year in his contract and then let him walk.

Harrison had one of the greatest seasons ever for a Steeler linebacker, but one could argue that the Steelers "system" has a little bit to do with the numbers he posted.

It should be interesting to watch how this situation plays out.
