McLouth financial terms released

The Pittsburgh Pirates ponied up some money to keep last year's most productive player in a Pirate uniform for the next 3 years, with a club option for a 4th.

The Pirates and McLouth agreed to a contract that will pay the 27 year old center fielder a 1.5 million dollar signing bonus and 2 million this season, 4.5 million next season, and 6.5 million in 2011. The club option for the 4th year would be worth 10.65 million with a 1.25 million buyout.

The total guaranteed dollar amount of McLouth's contract will be 15.75 million.

In my opinion, that is a fantastic deal for the Pirates. There are several players on the Yankees roster that will make more than that this season, let alone the next 3 seasons.

McLouth is a gritty player that shows up ready to play every day.
